Nordea Markets rely on Capital Markets IT to provide technology that will allow the bank to stand strong and excel in this environment. We, Capital Markets IT, are developers, business analysts, architects, project managers and other technologists working all over the world.

Using leading edge technologies, we develop high performance real-time systems, processing a large number of transactions daily, and supporting hundreds of users distributed across our offices world-wide.

At the beginning of 2014 we have opened a new IT Development Centre office in Poland, Tricity. Our ambition is to become a leading Capital Markets development unit with top quality developers.

Head of Market Risk IT

Location: Gdańsk

 

The position we offer:

Are you looking to lead a very ambitious and fast growing team of engineers? You will be responsible for “making it happen” and leading business deliveries across both green field and matured initiatives.

 

We are in flight with a major business and IT transformation in Risk Management. We are redesigning our risk engine with a service-oriented approach using loosely coupled services, asynchronous communication and resilient design.

 

We are building systems which are responsible for Risk Management for the whole of Nordea. Our systems are required to be highly scalable, reactive and capable and operate with millions of deals and terabytes of data. They use thousands of grid cores and produce billions of records.

 

Your challenge, should you chose to accept it, is to lead an organization of 20-30 people that can deliver organised into several strong software engineering teams working on the next generation risk systems.

 

You will spend considerable time promoting the right thing as well as liaising with business owners and the greater IT organization.

 

We like working agile in small teams with a close relationship to business. You will also have a lot of stakeholders within IT especially with Core Services teams providing foundational components.

 

Last, but not least, you will secure stable daily operations of the existing legacy systems and actively manage the major technology and the skills transformation needed to take us to the future architecture.

Qualifications you need:

You are experienced and have excellent leadership skills. You know how to lead a team of software engineers and have hands-on experience with delivery of big software projects. You are up-to-date with recent technology trends.

You are interested in using web-scale technologies such as Redis, Cassandra, Hadoop, mongoDB, Kafka, Spark, Docker and microservice architecture and either you are already working with some of these or you would like to. You will be based with the engineering team in Gdansk in a very international working environment and fluent English is essential.
