Team Leader in Application Operations (SUN), Gdańsk

Using leading edge technologies, we develop high performance real-time systems, processing a large number of transactions daily, and supporting hundreds of users distributed across our offices world-wide.

At the beginning of 2014 we have opened a new IT Development Centre office in Poland, Tricity. Our ambition is to become a leading Capital Markets development unit with top quality developers.

Currently we are looking for:

Application Operation Team Leader

Location: Gdańsk

 

The Position we offer:

 

Application Operations is a newly established function in Nordea, meaning that you will embark the journey from the beginning with a unique opportunity of defining your team processes and culture.

 
You are also expected to participate in daily operations if needed and act according to the Nordea values and processes.
Team leaders have employees reporting directly to them and you can expect up to 10 direct reports.

 

You lead the Application Operation team of SUN and International Units, and take responsibility for delivering a strong business result and driving the functional excellence. As a member of the Management team you will understand the underlying business drivers, and manage boundaries between your unit and relevant part of the organisation.

 
Part of the expected job is to create and implement operational plans and set concrete targets for the team as well as for each employee. You will also be responsible for selecting high performing team members and building the team.

 

You ensure that direct reports understand how their targets and plans are linked to the strategy and their personal goals.

 
It is expected, that you implement and optimize processes, products and facilitate continual service improvements in your team. You are also expected to handle risk issues and ensure compliance with regulatory and governance requirements.
 
Leading follows the Nordea vision, values and leadership statement. You provide timely and well-documented feedback, coaching, performance assessment, and hold direct reports accountable for their performance. Clear and precise communication to stakeholders is expected and you show direction enabling reports to cooperate and execute.


The job requires the following of the candidate:

 

 

Application Service Management:

  • Manage relationships with business and IT peers

  • Knows and complies to any agreed service levels and prioritizes business continuity

  • Knows and follows escalation procedures

  • Knows and follows incident, problem and change management process

  • Manages internal coordination in IT

    • Relationships between applications/platforms/components/infrastructure


Lifecycle Management:

  • Manages application service on the operational level

  • Ensures “lights on” for services

  • Manages technical integrity, upgrades, releases and deployments of the application

  • Responsible for pre-production and production stability

  • Responsible for Continual Service Improvements


Compliance Management:

  • Manages alignment with IT Strategy and Principles

  • Manages alignment with domain roadmap

  • Ensures updated application documentation in the Knowledge Management System

Project Management:

  • Responsible for driving the IT Operation Excellence programme initiatives for your area, covering the following:

    • Establish knowledge management for your area in Confluence

    • On-board processes (Incident, Problem, Change and Request fulfilment)

    • Work out Technical restore and recovery documents

    • Work together with the Site Reliability engineering team implementing Event Management

    • Establish reporting

The qualifications you need:

 

  • Strong people, coaching and communication skills
  • ITIL foundation and knowledge of processes
  • Scripting knowledge (VBS, Powershell etc)
  • Deployment of client packages using automated tools
  • Operating System knowledge (Windows, Linux, Unix)
  • Experience with FTP or other means of transferring data
  • Knowledge  and practical experience of event monitoring
  • Talent for proactive problem solving
  • Database Knowledge (Oracle, SQL)
  • Knowledge about Mainframe and ISeries technology
